Pilot Project - Early Intervention/Mental Health

Here at Coalition for School Safety, we have been quietly working in the background since our formation in February of this year.  We are thrilled to announce one of our favorite projects is about to go live!

In every school and in every community, there are young people who suffer silently because they feel left out, alone or invisible. Young people who are isolated can become victims of bullying, violence, and/or depression. As a result, many pull further from society, struggle with learning and social development and/or choose to hurt themselves or others.

'Start with Hello' is a program that raises awareness and educates students and the community through activities, discussions, and public proclamations. This project was created by the parents of the students who suffered in the Sandy Hook tragedy. They, like so many of us, are determined to make a change, to make our schools a safer place.

And now for the really exciting part.....Newsome High School will be holding their very first “Start with Hello” week the week of September 24th, 2018!

Our goal is to add more schools of all grades from elementary to graduation in this ongoing mental health drive.
